Newtown Action Alliance calls on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate to vote in favor of B.Todd Jones as the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)

NEWTOWN, Conn. – Newtown Action Alliance urges the Senate Judiciary Committee to take action to prevent gun violence in our nation by voting in favor of B.Todd Jones as the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

We need a strong leader at the ATF to ensure that current and future firearms regulations are enforced to reduce gun violence in the United States. There has been a constant outcry for better enforcement of existing laws. We agree and we believe that 6 years without a permanent director has been too long and now is the time.

We support B.Todd Jones as the Director of the ATF and we urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to send his nomination to the Senate for an up or down vote.
Jones has focused the agency on the areas where they can have the most impact. He has been dedicated to this effort despite limited resources such as funding cuts to the agency, namely in states, counties and communities. We need to give the agency responsible for enforcing our gun laws the resources and leadership they need. The Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate need to act now if we are truly committed to putting an end to the gun violence epidemic in America.

Newtown Action Alliance is a Newtown Connecticut-based grassroots 501(c)(4) advocacy organization working as a catalyst for smarter, safer gun laws and broader cultural change to reduce gun violence. Find out more at www.newtownaction.org
